Board Member Spotlight - Rosann Bateman

Transitions, changes, modifications, and transformations. Those are the terms that come to mind as I transition from being the President of the PMI Northern Utah Chapter. It has been my honor to serve the Chapter membership for the past 4 years and 7 months as your President. Previously, I was the VP Programs and for a couple of months EVP Professional Development. Prior to these roles, I was on the Board of the PMI Austin Texas Chapter for 8 years. I have been retired for 12 years and have served on PMI Boards for 14 years, so I believe it is time to hand over the leadership of our Chapter to a new President.
As President, I have been able to accomplish the following goals:
- Policies and procedures in place for every Board position with annual reviews to make sure the policies and procedures are up-to-date.
Volunteer roles are being filled faster. - The Professional Development Conference is more robust by adding a volunteer event during the conference to increase our hours for social good with our community and PMI.
- Governance has a larger role in helping make sure we as a Chapter are meeting our deadlines with PMI and as leaders of the Chapter.
Volunteer events are occurring on a regular basis. - During the Pandemic, we managed to transition to on-line Lunch and Learns, a virtual Professional Development conference, scholarship awards, Project and PMO of the Year awards, on-line Board meetings, and we still met our obligations with PMI and IRS. Of course, all of these efforts were thanks to a very committed Board of Directors, Directors, and other volunteers.
As I move into the role of Past President, I will still be involved with PMI, the Board, and the Chapter. I still plan to volunteer as much as possible and help guide the Board forward with new members. It’s time for new ideas and direction by a very qualified and dedicated team of Board members.
Thank you to the members of the PMI Northern Utah Chapter for the opportunity to lead the Chapter through a Pandemic and into the future. Project management is a worthy endeavor. My future plans include supporting the Chapter, PMI, continual learning and volunteering.
